We hope that you can join us for a very special night, a fabulous opportunity to meet and learn from Cédric DUCOTÉ, winemaker at Domaine Rolet in the Jura region of Eastern France. Domaine Rolet is located in the steep elevation of the Alps in the wine region of the Jura, near the Swiss border, very close to the Swiss capital of Geneva. Nestled between the capitals of Dijon and Geneva, the wines here are very distinct and very unusual.
Climate here is very similar to Burgundy but bitterly cold in the winter. Ripeness is a
concern so many harvests take place well into late October. Domaine Rolet began
making wine in 1942 in the Jura and today is one of the top producers in the region.
The slopes are very steep and difficult to farm. They farm organically, and never use
herbicides or pesticides. In addition to growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir like
neighboring Burgundy, this region has some very interesting, indigenous varietals,
unique to the region, such as Sauvagnin, Poulsard and Trousseau. The wines are
very balanced, mineral driven and distinct. Purity of fruit is paramount.
