From exit 2 off the Mass Turnpike (Rt. 90) is a quintessential New England scene, replete with nearly two dozen ethnically diverse restaurants – everything from American, French, Peruvian, and Vietnamese food to crepes, steak and pizza. If you visit Lee during the summer months, you will see some of the most beautiful flower baskets anywhere lining Main Street and the surrounding business area.

Main street is chock full of small shops, enough of a variety of restaurants to satisfy all tastes and budgets, banks, the town hall, a library, a beautiful historic church, and a multitude of friendly people and business owners. Nestled in the quiet just beyond the center of town, you will find Inns and B&Bs galore – beautiful historic inns, small B&Bs, and brand-name hotels.

At the foot of Main Street is a small gray house. It is the Lee Information Center, staffed entirely by knowledgeable volunteers who are ready to assist both newcomers and townspeople alike with brochures, information, tip sheets, directions, and sometimes just a welcome, friendly smile and cold bottle of water. The center is staffed during the peak visitor season (May through October) Mondays through Saturdays from 10:00AM until 4:00PM.

So, what about those tip sheets they offer? If you want to know the best hiking trails in the area for your skill level, or where to go kayaking, or biking, and much more, be sure to stop by the Information Center. One of the center’s volunteers has compiled some 15 different lists, primarily geared toward the outdoor enthusiast. Each is free for the asking.
